The Gnat Dance is an esoteric form of martial art perfected by tribespeople living in the fetid jungles of Zahrembul, where swarming insects of every sort plague the inhabitants. It is characterised by slow drifting before an enemy, moving from foot to foot with understated movements, then zipping quickly in a random manner to avoid attacks.
In effect, this allows a gnat dancer to attempt to dodge the first attack from one enemy per round. If that attack misses, the enemy can make no further attacks on the gnat dancer in that round, and is usually so confused that they don't attack anyone else either.
It grants no special benefits to attack and requires complete concentration on the opponent to be successful, so a gnat dancer is more exposed to attacks from others while dancing. Warriors of the Zahrembul jungles sometimes make a low buzzing noise while going through gnat dance motions, but this isn't required.
